Occupy Miami

“On September 17, 2011, people from all across the United States of America and the World came to protest the blatant injustices perpetuated by the 1% – the economic and political elites – whose actions affect all of us, the 99%.
We spoke out, resisted, and successfully occupied Wall Street. Today, we proudly remain engaged in non-violent civil disobedience while building solidarity based on mutual respect, acceptance, and love.
We are the 99% and we have assumed full responsibility for the future of our society, our culture, and most importantly, our own lives.” – Occupy Miami http://occupymia.org/
On October 15, 2011, people from all over Miami gathered around Biscayne Boulevard to speak up about all the injustices that are currently taking place right before our own eyes. The peaceful protest moved quickly from Biscayne to the Civic Center in downtown Miami to talk about the core issue: BIG CORPORATIONS versus PEOPLE.
Most individuals are not even aware of the major issues facing our society because they are too entertained with TV (the idiot box,) music, cool online social networks, materialism or their daily life routines. People seem too consumed with nonsense to realize what’s actually happening around them. It’s happening right now! It’s happening in our own communities! It’s affecting almost everyone. Our families, our friends, our education system, our freedom, the foods we eat and the world we live in are all being impacted by Big Business greed. It’s time for a change! It’s time to find solutions to our old ways of thinking in order to live in a more productive, peaceful, and loving environment. This way we can all evolve conscientiously into a new world. We are all One….
