Its that time of year again, can you feel art in the air? That’s cause its Miami beach Art basel 2011. The international contemporary art fair each years brings thousands of great artist and collectors from all around the world. It is the sister event to Art Basel in Switzerland. Public and private art events will be going on all around the city between Dec 1-4.You can find some amazing mural grafitti artist in the Wynwood art district as well as other gallery shows in the Miami Design District and Downtown Miami.

On October 15, 2011, people from all over Miami gathered around Biscayne Boulevard to speak up about all the injustices that are currently taking place right before our own eyes. The peaceful protest moved quickly from Biscayne to the Civic Center in downtown Miami to talk about the core issue: BIG CORPORATIONS versus PEOPLE.

Most individuals are not even aware of the major issues facing our society because they are too entertained with TV (the idiot box,) music, cool online social networks, materialism or their daily life routines. People seem too consumed with nonsense to realize what’s actually happening around them. It’s happening right now! It’s happening in our own communities! It’s affecting almost everyone. Our families, our friends, our education system, our freedom, the foods we eat and the world we live in are all being impacted by Big Business greed. It’s time for a change! It’s time to find solutions to our old ways of thinking in order to live in a more productive, peaceful, and loving environment. This way we can all evolve conscientiously into a new world. We are all One….

Two of my photography pieces were chosen for the Bombay Sapphire Artisan series in partnership with the Rush philanthropic art foundation. To be display on October 22, 2011 at the regional finals. I’m looking forward to display my work along side 30 other great artist from Miami.

Jermaine Paul is an American R&B soul singer.You might have seen this New york city native singing alongside Alicia Keys, with songs like “Diary” and “unbreakable”.This soulful singer began writing and producing songs of his own. Jermaine flew in from NYC to shoot Unique photography for his new single “teach me” and more of his music. I captured a lot of great images of Paul that displayed his southern Alabama background with his Gibson guitar.Down a dirt rd with a beautiful sunset. We shot him with a huge 25 ft American flag behind him with NY yankee’s fitted hat on, showing his red, white and blue love. We later spiced it up with some sexy bedroom scenes with his lovely model.

I will be releasing my first Directorial debut for Gibbor Green “CRUSH” video. This coming Friday October 7th. We be displaying the video at the Overtown youth center with the kids. It was pleasure working with the our community youth center and giving the kids an opportunity to be in their very first music video.

The last two months have been very exciting with my first Directorial debut for Gibbor Greens “Crush” video releasing later this week. I’ve been learning so much about cinematography. I got to work alongside with Vulpine films and Joseph Labisi one of the best directors of photography in the industry. He was the DP for Gibbor’s next video called ” follow me”. The playback footage was sick !!!! I also checked out some workshops last week and got to play with the red epic camera and crane systems. Its amazing what these machines help produce and make your next film look spectacular. You’ll be seeing more motion picture work coming soon. I’m currently working on a documentary and several other music videos. Here are a couple behind the scenes pix and video.

So I decided to give motion picture and try a new medium other than art and photography. I picked up a Canon 5d Hd video camera with its nice full-frame 35mm-format CMOS sensor chip. Shot my first music video for Miami’s 13 year old singer Gibbor Green for his single “Crush”. I must say this was an experience that I will be doing more ofter. It was great working with the over town youth center and giving the kids an opportunity to be in a video as well as some amazing kid dancers from a local Dance school called the Junkyard. I worked with SV Design a Miami based design consulting firm that specializes in interiors. To shoot 6 of their projects for the website. They included both commercial and residential photography such as 10 minute manicure in downtown Miami and the center for beauty skin Mayfair in Coconut Grove. Rashad Butler of the NFL Houston Texans stopped by Unique Studio to shoot some promotional images of himself and his clothing brand RB2COOL. Here’s a lil sneak peak of the contact sheet from the shoot.

So we used the Jordan 3′s as the featured sneaker in the (ball to the bone) basketball series.

The Air Jordan III was designed by Tinker Hatfield and Its definitely one of the most famous shoe in the Jordan line up. If you remember the Spike lee ad’s as Mars Blackmon and Mike, it was one of Nike’s most successful ad campaigns out. Jordan wore them during the 1988 Dunk Championship which he won and report to be his favorite sneaker of the brand. The retro cement 3 color was re- release this 2011.

I just got back from the ASMP South Florida branch seminar for “The Business of Photography and Industry Trends in a Changing Market” by Seth Resnick. This seminar was held at Andy Gato gallery at Barry University.The lecture focus on the needs of working photographer who are running their own digital photography business in the current digital world. Such as Determining Your Price, Providing Digital Receipts, Copyright, Model Releases, Negotiating Tactics, Social Networking, Licensing Stock and Fine Art.

We work in a competitive business where we must stay ahead of the game both artistically and technologically. However, few of us have changed our business tactics to compete in the global marketplace, and the business has changed dramatically. Photographers are spending more and more money shooting digitally, and are finding clients who are spending less and less. It’s time for change !!!

The Miami Herald stopped by the Wynwood art district to interview several artists talk about their live-work space studios.Wynwood’s has definitely become the hot spot for artists and culture in Miami.

I must say it does have its perks to be able to live and work from my studio. While others have to worry about am and pm traffic jams. I can just sit back and enjoy a beautiful early morning view of the city. The art district also offers artist a prime location. Every second Saturday galleries in the community open their doors to crowds of people enjoying music in the streets, free drinks, great food and lots of art. At the Wynwood wood art walk from 7-11pm.
